The 9th IFAR Summit was held at the invitation of the Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute, TsAGI, Russia in Moscow from 27 – 29 November 2018. A technical tour and the participation of IFAR in the International Scientific and Business Forum dedicated to TsAGI's 100th anniversary completed the program of IFAR`s high level representatives in Moscow.

On the occasion of the 7th annual IFAR Summit, the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) hosted 18 member organizations in Daejeon, South Korea from 27 to 29 September 2016. The participants exchanged information on members´ aviation research focus areas, discussed collaborative activities with internal and external partners and considered issues of common interests. In addition, the participants took part in a technical tour of the KARI facilities in Daejeon, gave an IFAR plenary lecture on air traffic management (ATM) related global challenges as a status of IFAR’s ATM Working Group activities at the 30th Congress of the International Council for Aeronautical Sciences, and met with the IFAR early careers networks (ECN) participants of the 4th IFAR Young Researcher’s Conference (YRC). The ECN’s held their conference in Daejeon at the same time as the summit and they were able to interact with IFAR participants on a number of occasions.

Eleven young researchers from nine member organizations (NRC, NASA, CAE, TsAGI, KARI, JAXA, DLR, ONERA, INCAS) participated in the YRC 2016, which was organized in parallel to the summit and hosted by KARI, presented the ECEN proposal as one of main themes over their five-day program.

On the occasion of the 6th annual IFAR Summit, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) of the United States hosted 21 member organizations at Ames Research Center, which is located in Moffett Field in California from 6 to 8 October 2015. In addition to discussing its technical collaborative activities, IFAR’s sustainability, and IFAR’s strategic plan, the Summit also included an industry tour of Google’s Project Wing drone-delivery program and a tour of Ames Research Center (ARC).

In order to further contribute to the development of IFAR, CAE is proposing to host the 5th IFAR Summit 2014.
The 4 days event will include a Plenary Forum, a Young Researcher Conference, attending the Zhuhai Airshow, visit AVIC General Aircraft Company CAIGA, and a meeting of IFAR SC in advance of the Summit.

4th IFAR Summit 2013 in Moscow/Russia
The 4th IFAR Summit 2013 was held in Moscow, from 24 to 28 August 2013, during the occasion of the International Aviation and Space Salon (MAKS). Central AeroHydrodynamic Institute (TsAGI) hosted senior level representatives from 22 of the IFAR participating organizations. Under the main theme of the summit and the accompanying events, ”Future of Aviation,“ the members evaluated the progress of IFAR work and decided on their future activities, see Declaration.

The International Forum for Aviation Research (IFAR) is the world´s only aviation research establishment network connecting the government-supported aviation research community worldwide. IFAR aims to be a cooperative forum for exchange among aviation research organisations in view of the increasing demands for aviation research on a global level. IFAR aims to support its Members in the implementation of their research aims. IFAR was founded in 2010. Currently 23 aviation research organizations are associated under the umbrella of IFAR on a voluntary, non-binding basis.

On invitation of JAXA the next IFAR Summit will take place in Nagoya, Japan from 13th - 14th October 2012. The Summit will be connected with a JAXA Aeronautics Symposium in Nagoya on 12th October 2012.

The next IFAR Summit will take place at Château de Méry in Méry-sur-Oise, France, 18th - 19th June 2011, immediately before the Paris Air Show in Le Bourget. ONERA will be hosting this IFAR Summit on behalf of the IFAR members and therefore invited 23 contries and organisations to meet at Château de Méry.
