The first part of the 11th IFAR Summit 2020 was held as a virtual conference for the first time ever on the 3rd and 5th of November 2020, hosted by the National Research Council Canada (NRC) and chaired by the Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute in Moscow (TsAGI).

With over 60 participants, the conference was a great success, with lively discussion on the future of aviation after Covid-19 and how IFAR can support the aerospace sector, as well as the topic of certification and regulation in an era of rapid innovation.

The keynote speaker at the summit was Dr. Fang Liu, the Secretary General of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). The signing of a Declaration of Intent between IFAR and ICAO summit represents a milestone in IFAR’s history, opening the door to future cooperation towards fostering innovation in aviation.

After the second part of the Summit 2020, planned to be held in March 2021 as a Mini-Summit in Ottawa, Canada, IFAR will release a detailed report on the measures concerning the Covid-19 pandemic that its members are taking in aviation research worldwide.
